99999 – De Klaauw antique peacock plate
Beautiful antique dish - plate by De Klaauw (the Claw). Delft blue, liquid blue, with ocher edge. Decor with a vase with ears of corn and wild flowers, surrounded by a border of stylized butterfly figures, curly motifs and sunflower motifs, after the Chinese example. In the Netherlands this decor has been transformed into the 'peacock plate'. Clearly marked.
In very good condition, nice clear sound.

The De Klaauw pottery bakery was founded in 1661 on the east side of the Koornmarkt (Delft), opposite the De Paauw bakery. The company was owned by the Van Schoonhoven sisters.
