Within the New Delft line of Royal Delft this decoration is called Old Persian (Oud-Perzisch). The inspiration for this piece comes from ceramics from Iznik, Turkey. There is also New Persian, which was developed during this period. For New Persian designer L.J. (Leon) Senf used other oriental pottery as an inspiration and the colour red is not applied in those ceramics.

The world famous Delft pottery has a rich history, which goes back to the time of the V.O.C. (Dutch East-India Company). Of the ca. 32 pottery bakeries, Royal Delft is the only remaining factory in Delft.
